It's like winning having a winning lottery ticket and instead of giving it to your kids, you give it to your ex!

I paused when I realized this. I've been divorced for almost a decade now. For some reason, it never dawned on me to change my life insurance policy.

As a precaution, I called my agent today to see if I had already changed it… and, I hadn't, wt*.

So, if I would have died, I would have passed on 500k to my ex instead of my kids. Not my desired outcome.

 

So, when you get divorced, remember to update your beneficiaries! This includes wills, life insurance, 401k's etc.
